Komplett engages suppliers through Supplier Portal

Komplett operates in the highly competitive consumer electronics market, where time to market and a comprehensive product range are key drivers of success. Recognizing this early, Komplett implemented an advanced Product Information Management (PIM) system in 2015. Its first strategic application was to support the launch of the newly established pharmacy chain, Komplett Apotek (later divested and now operating as Farmasiet)
Short product lifecycles increase requirements for efficient processes
The need for updated product data for all Komplett channels is continuously increasing. As the target audience changes from hardcore technical people who know what they want to an ever-wider audience, the demands for clear, accurate and complete product information have increased. This, together with an ever-increasing need for a wider range and faster product development with shorter product lifecycles, has made the need for a more efficient process for product data increasingly clear.
To meet this need, we, together with Komplett, implemented Informatica MDM Product 360's supplier portal in 2021. The portal made it possible to invite suppliers to a web-based interface where they themselves could update and contribute product information. Thanks to data quality rules integrated into Informatica Data Quality, suppliers were immediately notified of any errors or additions that needed to be made.
The result was that suppliers could work independently, whenever it suited them – regardless of time zone or working day. This has relieved the Komplett team from manual administration and management of Excel sheets, as well as freeing up significant resources in-house.
A Group-wide hub for product data
Since the implementation in 2021, a lot has happened. An important change that took place in 2025 was that the portal is now common to all Komplett Group (that is, Komplett, NetOnNet and Webhallen). Products uploaded via the portal are automatically available in all systems of all companies within the group within a few minutes. This has drastically shortened lead times for launches.
An example of this was when a major supplier of smart fitness watches would launch new models. Immediately upon the publication of the new models, the supplier uploaded the products' data via Komplett's Supplier Portal and only a few minutes later they were available in all group companies' systems. The alternative would have meant multiple separate Excel files, manual management from several people within each group company, and a significantly reduced time-to-market.

Time savings and quality improvements
Komplett estimates that the automated work has saved the equivalent of about one full-time role per year – resources that can now be spent elsewhere. For example, employees can instead focus on developing the product range, deepening supplier relationships and ensuring quality content.
In addition, the quality of product information has increased significantly, and after suppliers have used the portal for a couple of months, they are basically completely autonomous. Something that both saved time and improved quality, which ultimately creates a better customer experience.
“The supplier portal has changed the way we work with product information. The focus has shifted from manual administration to more skilled work. The fact that suppliers themselves upload and update information has a positive impact on our time-to-market and ultimately creates a better experience for our customers.”

Increasing usage and growth potential
The rollout of the Supplier Portal was initially phased, reaching 50% of suppliers shortly after launch and, within a few months, nearly all providers were onboarded.
Since then, the portal has become central to onboarding new suppliers and supporting ongoing collaboration with existing ones.
Today, more than 150 suppliers are onboarded, ranging from global leaders to smaller niche players. Internally, the portal is also used to manage products from suppliers who do not upload their own data — a clear testament to its effectiveness and long-term potential.
“It is inspiring to see how our solutions become key elements in streamlining entire operations. The Supplier Portal is a clear example of how smart management of product data creates value every day — for Komplett as well as their suppliers.”
— Peter Karlsson, Head of Product Outline & Solution Offering, Fiwe
A portal that stays relevant
Since its launch in 2021, Komplett's Supplier Portal has proven to be an effective solution for collecting and quality-assuring product data from suppliers. The portal has been continuously developed to meet evolving needs and expectations.
It is regularly updated and future-proofed, with features such as SSO login to enable broader access and an enhanced data model in PIM, allowing all Komplett Group companies to automatically receive data uploaded to the portal. The goal is to make it as easy and efficient as possible for suppliers to provide accurate and complete data, while enabling Komplett to streamline processes, save valuable time, and accelerate time-to-market.
“We are constantly exploring ways to make it easier and more efficient for suppliers to provide accurate and up-to-date data. The ongoing development of the Supplier Portal, in collaboration with Fiwe, is a natural next step in this journey..”
