Together with Beijer, Fiwe has developed digital guides such as the Deck Builder and Roof Builder, which help customers plan and order materials for entire construction projects step by step. The solutions combine expert knowledge, product information, and automated quantity calculations to ensure that no materials are overlooked. The result is an enhanced customer experience, increased efficiency, and several million in additional revenue each month.

Quantity calculation

One example of how Beijer assists customers with advice is that they offer a large number of so-called quantity calculators on their e-commerce site. As a customer, you will receive answers to questions such as:

  • How much screw is needed for an OSB board?
  • How many running meters of steel rail do I need for a drywall partition?
  • How many concrete slabs do I need for 20 square meters?

You get the answer right away along with suggestions on which products to choose from.

Deck Builder

Some of the most common projects for which the quantity calculations are used include replacing or building a new roof, or constructing a deck. To make the process even easier for customers, Beijer has developed guides based on these calculations to manage the entire project, ensuring that no element is overlooked.

Fiwe is the supplier that together with Beijer has developed these guides and perhaps the most used guide that Beijer offers is the so-called Deck Builder which is a comprehensive guide for those who want to build a terrace. You start with a few measurements for the intended size of the terrace and the choice of decking timber. By answering a number of questions, you will know what different products you need and what quantity you are recommended to buy. At the end of the process, you also receive advice and recommendation on the choice of basic construction to ensure a stable and sustainable construction.

You are guided through the whole process and as you make your choices, relevant proposals come up as the next choice. For example, you need completely different types of screws depending on the type of wood you choose. Throughout the process, information is provided about the cost of each choice. Thanks to the deck builder, Beijer gives its customers the opportunity to easily and around the clock get help with a complex and comprehensive order even if the experts have gone home.

Since the service was introduced, thousands of Beijer customers have ordered materials for their patio using the Deck Builder. Every month, the quantity calculator together with the ceiling and floor selector contributes to millions in increased sales.

Roof Builder

Another scenario that Beijer has chosen to deal with Guided Selling are roof renovations. Many customers come to Beijer with questions about roof renovation and have questions about what needs to be considered. With the launch of the roof builder, can customers now be referred to Beijer's digital channels and receive support and support in the entire process from planning to ordering.

The roof builder gathers knowledge from Beijer experts with product information that together builds a whole for the customer, whether it is a recurring task or whether it is the first time one is planning a roof construction.

With simple step-by-step guides, the user is piloted through complex choices that affect the cost of the project. The various components are quantified based on the specified dimensions and added to the order. The guide also ensures that no material is forgotten but the order is complete.

The finished order can be saved to be ordered later or can be converted into a quotation base with material mark-ups and additions for example labor costs for Beijer's B2B customers so that they get a nice material for their end customer.

We are seeing a trend in the market where more and more customers are asking for these guides. We are proud to have contributed to Beijer's journey from simple calculations of quantities to the more complex guides for decks and roofs.
